Christy McCoy MSW, LICSW is a licensed clinical school social worker for St. Paul Public School District, St. Paul, MN with over 24 years of experience. She earned her MSW degree from the University of St. Thomas and University of St. Catherine in 2003. Her experience and interests include culturally responsive trauma informed interventions, grief and loss, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, restorative practices, and mindfulness strategies. She is passionate about dismantling systemic barriers and policies by centering her work in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. She is dedicated to empowering youth, families, communities, staff and school social workers in elevating their voices to ensure an equitable, socially just, inclusive society. Christy is the current Legislative Chair for MSSWA and has served in additional leadership positions including MSSWA President 2013-2015; Midwest School Social Work Council Recognition Chair 2015-2020; SSWAA President 2021-2022; SSWAA Legislative Chair 2016-2020; SSWAA Secretary 2016-2019.
