Dr. Winifred Martin is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and owner of a private practice. She is also a professor of social work at Elms College. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Martin has gained extensive experience working with children, families, and individuals in a supportive and guidance capacity with a focus on youth development and cultural considerations. Her professional commitments center around serving the needs of children and adolescents through roles such as School Social Worker, Violence Intervention Advocate, and Substance Abuse Counselor. Currently, Dr. Martin teaches the next generation of social workers while remaining diligently committed to community social work and youth progress.

Dr. Martin holds a Doctor of Education degree in Counseling and Supervision. Through her studies, she has explored various modalities and their applications to different circumstances and demographics. The goal has been to facilitate healing, self-reflection, and mindfulness through fostering self-awareness in those in need. As a lifelong learner, Dr. Martin finds inspiration in the wealth of opportunities available to broaden and enrich the lives of her fellow counselors, students, and all youth. Having immigrated to the U.S. and been the first in her family to attain higher education, her passion remains serving the youth of inner cities. She is committed to developing socially responsible responses to continuously changing and evolving communities.
