Aisha Merced is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas and New York. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2008 and her Master’s in Social Work in 2014 from the University of Alaska Anchorage. After graduation, she made her way to New York City after being accepted into the Children’s Corp. She worked in Child Welfare for 6 years assisting foster youth with their permanency goal of either reunification, adoption, or independent living. Aisha worked in the therapeutic program for 2 years providing case management and individual therapy to adolescent and young adults with a mental health diagnosis. She was promoted to Administrative Supervisor and moved to the regular foster care program, CS-NYC where she supervised more than 70 children. She is a strong professional with a focus on Trauma Informed Care.
Looking for a change in population, Aisha moved to Texas to be closer to her family in the middle of the pandemic. She works full-time as a Guidance Counselor for a private catholic high school in Dallas. She enjoys providing a “safe zone” to her students to help them deal with a variety of issues [grief, interpersonal relationship conflicts, anxiety, depression, etc].
In addition, Aisha works for a psychiatric hospital part-time providing assessments, group, and individual therapy to adolescents and adults. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT] and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy [SFBT] to provide individual, group and family therapy; crisis intervention; and behavioral modification. She is certified in Parenting Through Change, a parenting program to assist parents with children with behavioral issues in the home. She sees young children in a play therapy setting.
Aisha enjoys meeting her clients where they are and supporting them as they navigate the many stressors in life. She has expertise in areas including abuse, assault, and trauma [PTSD], adoption issues, foster care issues, and adjustment disorders.
